  • June 10, 2021

Antiquing and rural parts of the United States, particularly the South, are often paired together in our imaginations. Warm Springs and Pine Mountain, Georgia are no exceptions to this rule. If you are looking for antiques close to the Mountain Top Inn & Resort, there are several places to explore and hunt for that unique item or to locate a piece to upcycle.

Warm Springs, Pine Mountain, and the surrounding area have a relaxing and laid-back atmosphere that lends itself to a great antique search. After you have breakfast at one of the local spots to start your day, you can stroll downtown and search in the various antique and consignment shops.

There are several antique or second-hand shops in the area; some of them host several vendors in one location, while others have one owner. If you are looking for a specific item, feel free to call ahead to learn what’s available or where to target your search. A dealer can also target your requested item when searching for new items to add to inventory.

Here are some of the local antique shops to peruse at your leisure.

Veranda is a beautifully designed store with a wide collection of unique items. Stop in to find something for that friend that you love dearly, but have a hard time shopping in a conventional store.

Emporium Antiques has a wide and eclectic list of items to appeal to all sorts of shoppers, including those related to history and culture.

Sweet Home Antiques has been listed as one of the “premier antique shops in the South” by the New York Times, Southern Living, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The owners travel to England and France throughout the year, bringing back unique English items. With this type of pedigree, you will likely find a very lovely item handpicked by the owners. They also own several other shops in Warm Springs, including Country Gardens, Chanticleer, and Whisk. Their antique shops firmly anchor the downtown community of Warm Springs.

Country Gardens specializes in items to accent the home garden, while Chanticleer is a country French-inspired shop with wonderful furniture and decorative items. Whisk is their latest addition, focusing on kitchen wares.

Antiques and Crafts Unlimited hosts several vendors in one location and has an impressive collection of salt and pepper shakers of all kinds.

There are a couple of other shops that you should consider on your visit too.

While it isn’t defined as an antique shop, there is a “Made in America” shop you may also want to visit, specializing in American- and Georgia-made gifts and collectibles. Bluebird Cottage may have that perfect American gift you have been looking to find.

There is also a consignment shop, Refreshingly Country Consignment Boutique, which may offer unusual finds for a shopper interested in upcycling.
